Overview

Trace is a minimalist, calm, private space for the things you want to keep: ideas, notes, reflections, lists, and memories. This Privacy Policy explains what information Trace handles, where that information is stored, and when it may be shared.

Information You Create in the App

When you use Trace, the app may store:

Local Storage

By default, your journal entries and app preferences are stored locally on your device using on-device storage. This includes preferences such as theme choice, app lock preference, and cached Pro status used to keep the app working correctly.

iCloud Sync With Pro

If Trace Pro is active on a supported Apple device and iCloud is available, Trace may automatically sync your journal entries and deletion records to your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud services. Trace does not currently show a separate in-app toggle for iCloud sync once Pro is active.

Optional App Lock

If you enable app lock, Trace can ask iOS to verify Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode before opening the app. Trace does not collect or store your biometric templates. Biometric data is handled by Apple through the authentication features built into your device.

Purchases and Pro Features

Trace offers optional Pro features. Purchases are processed through Apple. Trace uses RevenueCat to present the paywall and confirm whether your Pro entitlement is active. Apple and RevenueCat may process the purchase-related information needed to complete transactions, restore purchases, and manage subscription status. Trace does not receive or store your full payment card details.

What Trace Does Not Do

Trace does not use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, social sharing systems, or account signup. Trace does not sell your personal information.
